In planning our garden, we looked at garden stones and many statues for hours. We found whimsical, religious, heart touching and beautiful statues, stones, and even adorable garden gnomes.

We could each think of different things these statues might mean to us. We were at first looking for a statue or stone that was just for us, something special to represent our love and relationship. We wanted to put a bench in that area where we would go as a couple and give thanks for having found each other.

Rarely do people believe exactly the same way and we are no different. We each have our personal belief systems and we each respect those and allow the other to pray and give thanks in their own way.

We endeavor to enjoy the person we fell in love with without trying to change them. Just as in the rest of nature, change will usually come as it is needed. Mostly it doesn’t need our interference even if we think change isn’t coming fast enough. It is a learning process in humans. When we ourselves are perfect in our own eyes, then we can begin to try to change others. Obviously I am not referring to addictions. Sometimes those do require our help for a change to take place.

We decided to have areas for the garden where not only do we have different items growing but with a different theme, if you will. We will, of course, have a memorial area for remembrance of people in our lives that are no longer physically with us. That will be a small rose garden with a beautiful garden stone such one of these.
