Our family has always loved wildlife and animals in general. Animals, including other people’s pets, have been known to follow us home. In fact, even our 10 year old “puppy” was a wild animal. She followed me out of the woods when I was hiking in the mountains. As far as we can tell and from her doctor’s comments, she was 4 weeks old and I am the only mommy she has ever known. My beautiful girl is a wolf/Collie mix.

The first time I saw this Scarecrow Motion-activated Sprinkler the thought of accidentally walking in front of it and triggering it to soak me made me laugh out loud. The spray of water is immediate in the direction of the intruder. That would be just my luck and completely within the realm of reason in my world.

We are not hunters so we don’t have any reason to injure, maim or kill an animal, but we wanted to find a way to keep them out of our garden areas. The Scarecrow Motion-activated Sprinkler could make for some entertaining moments too. I spend a lot of time looking out the kitchen window while I cook or wash dishes. We also spend time sitting at the outdoor table near the pool as we cook on the grill or in the solar oven. We often see deer, armadillos, the occasional coyote and lots of birds of different types.

Any regular garden hose can be attached and it works night or day with one 9V battery. It’s unfortunate that it doesn’t run off solar but I am positive some clever people can make adjustments or additions to make it so. We will be using a rechargeable battery that we recharge with a solar charger.

It occurred to me that the cranky old man down the lane might figure out how to keep the kids from cutting across his yard, out of his apple tree or from fishing in his pond without standing out there yelling at them.
